Hi Hansel,
I just purchased Modplay on the itunes store, just would like to say well done!
Just wondering if you are also taking feature "wish lists" here in these forums or just bug reports?
I have 3 which would be my top features:
1. Would be really great to see Graphic Equalizer equalizer bars just like the old Noise Tracker/Protracker Type, would be awesome bringing back the visual look.
2. A colour "theme" section to allow you to select 3d grey colour settings like Protracker, or dark grey or blue of OctaMed etc.
3. The ability to delete mods in the "Downloads" section. I SSH transfer my mods to the folder, would be good if you can delete the ones you downloaded via the websites without having to use a computer.
Thanks for Modplay! Cheers, Michael

I second the 2 first points but for the first feature how many bars because it depend of the number of voices generaly MOD = 4 voices = 4 bars but XM can have up to 32 !!! even 64 ? for the third one I think you missed something You can ALREADY delete mods simply by slide your finger on the name you want to delete like in the contacts app (and in many apps; it's a new iPhone technic for delete items in list mode !)

Yea I would like to see some changes in the GUI to ... I don`t realy like all that white As it is now ... all that info. text right in the middle of the main screen. Should just make a info. tab that sits none disturbing right at the lower right. As it is now it`s just sits there and takes up space. Space that could have been used for something much better, but I think lunaticity knows this I use SIDplay quite a bit to and like it`s layout and navigation much better. To bad only the "High Voltage SID Collection" is all that you get with it, and there is now other way to get other SID files to play with it. All thou the HVSC is very good. Would just like to see that I could add my own collection of SID files to it. That why I like Modplay ... here I at least can add my own collection of MOD, S3M, 669, AMF, To bad there are`t any good way of adding those files other then browsing the internet for them ...

Yup, I'm definetely taking suggestions here. Whether or not I'll be able to implement them depends on how easy it'd be to do.
1. One problem with the visualization is that it's difficult for me to obtain each channel's data on its own. I'll look more into it, but expect this will take a long time to get through. Additionally, drawing stuff in realtime on the iPhone without using OpenGL is pretty rough and slow. I'm sure you can see in 1.1 that the basic waveform drawing looks kinda lame still in many cases.
2. Changing the color or theming would be fun; I'd have to build up a color picker, which might not be too bad. As man0war says: "I don't really like all that white.", I'm thinking it's less the white, and more the use of space. Sadly, I'm a terrible artist, as the icons for both ModPlayer and JEsho show. This would be much easier than the visualization changes. The main problem I may encounter would be that the built in controls that the OS gives me might not like it if I move away from using white, a specific gray, or black. I'll give it a shot.
3. As theuman mentions, swiping will allow for deletes. Once I get the bookmarks up and running, I'll use that information to try to make it more obvious in the library.

Just one quick question ... you did mention that you wanted to add the ability for ModPlay to read zip files ... is that in place ? Haven`t tested my self yet so ...

Oh yeah, the zip file feature should be in that bookmarks test app I sent you guys. If you'd be willing to try it out with zip files of both small and large batches, let me know how it goes. I suspect there may be memory issues with larger zip files because of the limited amount of memory on the iPhone, so I've been looking at how to possibly work around it.

Have tested it now ... seems to work fine with the 15MB file I tested it with. For those who wonder or wish to test for them self here it is : dump.no/files/82e4a46fd10b/0-9.zipIt`s just simply all the 0-9 MOD files from artscene.textfiles.com/music/mods/ put inside this one zipfile ... I`ll do a bit more experimenting. Bigger zip fil etc. And see if I can get it to crash Had no problems with this 15 MB file and the 139 MOD files inside the ZIP file

Wow, that's a pretty substantial zip file! Glad to know it's working for you!

Since a lot of amiga music has been made with many different file formats, it would be nice to be able to support those formats (like tfmx, hip, bp, cust and so on). Just like deli-player. Is that possible?

Is that possible? ModPlay is based on the libMikMod that has been ported to iPhone. You can read about all the features of libMikMod here : mikmod.raphnet.net/#featuresHow well all those features work in ModPlay I can`t say since I have yet to have test all those formats it support. I stick with MOD, S3M, IT, XM and 669. I`m glad to see that zip support is working now, so I can get my fav. songs up more easy. Picking one and one song just takes to much time, and gets pretty boring very fast

we can imagine more than one audio core for this app... just in case here is a link to sources of another mod player xmp.sourceforge.net/it seems not moving since 2007 but it compile on Mac OS and it can play many 'obscures' mod formats

Tested a bigger zip file today. Seems to have no problems with it. This time I just put all of the A and B MOD files from artscene.textfiles.com/music/mods/ put inside this one zipfile Here`s the link ofr the zip-file : dump.no/files/3dc11e01af3d/A-B.zipThe size is 56,6 MB and it holds 678 files No problems Downloading it, a bit longer unpackingtime, but seems to do just fine unpacked in less the 2 min Note that I am doing this on my Touch, and I don`t have a iPhone. So things may not go as well as it did for me on my Touch if you try on your iPhone. But it will be interesting to see if there are any difference between iPhone and Touch. So would be cool if some of you others tested to. I now just thinking of go for a 500MB zip ... gotta find a place to dump it first.

With regards to alternative audio cores, there's also the issue of the licenses of the various audio cores. XMP appears to be GPL which means that all applications that link to it must publish all their source code, which is kinda restrictive. In addition, I'd also have to look into seeing whether or not it'd be easy to adapt to the iPhone's audio APIs. simius: It wouldn't be easy to adapt ModPlayer to play the other files unless there's been existing code to adapt libMikMod to playing it. If you know of any players which are open source and not GPL-licensed (LGPL is okay), I'd be happy to look into whether or not it'd be difficult to make it work with the iPhone audio APIs.

Hey, I didn't want to start another thread to say this but just wanna say thanks for this app, bought it a couple of weeks ago and use it pretty much all the time, awesome stuff!!
To stay on topic I guess one thing I would have liked would be for the screen to go off, or to be able to turn it off but have the player still play the audio.
